We had such a wonderful time at the Honey House. The place was quiet, clean and airy, and the open-air shower looking out on an orange tree was lovely. David and Val were great hosts - very friendly and available, and they even brought us treats from their garden - coconuts, papayas, and the best avocados we've ever eaten! :)Quotes

"Outstanding"
A fabulous stay in the true garden of Eden. During my stays I have dined on avocados and fresh squeezed orange juice right out of the organic gardens on the property. The owners are attentive and helpful in every way. I highly recommend these accomodations for the green-minded travelers that want to leave a minimum footprint and gain a heavenly experience in a true Hawaiian wonderland. Beautiful!Quotes

Hey, if you are looking for peaceful vacation rental on the Big Island, the Kehena Honey House is it! Val and Dave are gracious hosts for this wonderful hide-away. This is a clean and attractive cottage which has ample kitchen and shower facilities. The cottage is only minutes away from Hawaii's south-east coast with beautiful beaches, hot springs, and scenery. If you decide to stay here, you can look forward in hearing the incredible chorus of frogs at night and the moring wakeup of all the birds. I would stay here again anytime!Quotes

Calling the Kehena Honey House "home" was easily one of the best decisions of the trip. Located in the lush jungles of the Puna district, the Honey House felt very much like we had gotten away from it all while surrounded by a beautiful neighborhood and friendly community right near a breath taking black sand beach. Nestled in our own private corner of the beautiful garden, the house had every amenity of home. Large kitchen with stove and refrigerator as well as any kitchen appliance you might need The main living area of this spacious studio has a very comfortable king sized bed, large wooden table with 4 chairs and a sofa/futon for relaxing or can be converted into a comfortable spare bed for two. I was very impressed by the size of the main living area, it was even bigger than it seems in the photos.Quotes

Thoughts of visiting Kehena Honey House: Hundreds of whistling frogs sound like birds, adorable and friendly black and white kitty, lots of curious quacking ducks feasting on fresh coconuts. Hosts Val and David feed the ducks and share their garden harvest with guests: wonderful, tasty coconuts, juicy, ripe oranges, huge avocados, and tropical flowers. Honey when in season. Dense, tropical, rugged lava rock, wild terrain filled with many wonderful sights and sounds. Two walking blocks to the ocean. Couple miles to view nightly, flowing Mt. Kilauea. Short drive to quaint Pahoa town, longer drive to big city Hilo and airport. Beach days bring adventure for seeking elusive wild sea turtles. Handsome Kalani Resort nearby offers yoga classes, retreats, and colorful people. Gracious and friendly hosts, Val and Dave, always helpful and accommodating. Mahalo Big Island.Quotes
